Creating Invoices May 5, 2011

Filed under: Professional Project — catabbott @ 9:00 am

I have created invoices for each of our companies for all of the work that we have done for them and they can be seen below. For the clients that we were given just before the deadline I have only produced them with an invoice for the website work as I have added them onto the map.

Working Out Our Budget May 5, 2011

Filed under: Professional Project — catabbott @ 9:00 am

Using the rate cards provided we have worked out our budget according to the work that we are producing for each company. We have edited as we have gone along, gained new clients, and changed the work that we are going to do. This is the latest version and features all of our clients and all of the work that we have produced.

For some aspects of the work such as the website I have made ‘bundle deals’ where certain aspects (such as the graphics) are blanket for everyone so have divided the costs between the 10 clients in order to keep our expenses down and within budget.

Editing the Website April 26, 2011

Filed under: Professional Project — catabbott @ 3:33 pm

Matt has given us a list of a further five companies that have agreed to be included in our map. However, with the deadline being next Thursday we do not have time to produce content for them. What I have done though, is I have included them in the website; out markers for each of them on the map, given them each infowindow’s with their contact details, and provided links on the company page along with the original five companies.

The new companies are:

Strange Corporation Revolting Strawberry Soup Pixelfish 3 Sided Cube

I have also made new map markers for each of the companies as my previous method was turning out to be less effective with the more companies that I added. I was using a piece of code that meant I could take the favicon files from each of the companies websites and use those as the markers, however, quite a few of the new companies did not have these images so I have made new ones for everyone based on their Twitter profile images.

Here are screenshots of how the pages look now. The Home Page featuring the map with new markers and the updated Twitter feed to include the newly added companies.

I have added each of the new companies to the page where all of the companies are easily accessible; the ‘Companies’ page features a table with each company contained within it, the graphics here are also the Twitter profile images (for continuity) and are linked directly to the company websites.

I have also edited our ‘About’ page. We planned on putting an image onto this page, to make it look a little less bland. The photo that I have used for the moment is a still shot from our footage for Bright Blue Day. I chose to use this because it’s a picture of the beach and that is one of the first things that you think of when you think of Bournemouth.

However, I think I may change this picture in the future as it is not fantastic quality and I think there could be a better image that we can use. I would like to keep it along the same lines as the beach for the reasons mentioned above but perhaps something a little more interesting and of better quality.

Salad Animation April 22, 2011

Filed under: Professional Project — catabbott @ 5:26 pm

This week I have been working on our animation for Salad. I’ve spent most of the week sorting out Illustrator files, transferring things between Illustrator and Photoshop, trying to remember how on Earth Illustrator works, fiddling in Flash and then fiddling some more in After Effects. So far all I have been able to muster has been thanks to the Puppet Pin tool, which is not the best for making smooth curves (which, incidentally, is what I want).

After much deliberation, we have decided to put this animation on the back-burner as we have not yet received the copies of work that we require to put in the animation so are going to focus on finishing up our video for Bright Blue Day first. The same applies to our other animation for Clockworx, we have not received anything from them to display as client work so we have also put this project to one side for now.

Finished Redweb Video April 20, 2011

Here is our finished video for Redweb. We’ve sent it over to them and after making a few changes to the title screens they are happy with what we have produced.

Embedding the Videos April 19, 2011

This week Mark has been editing our Redweb work and been checking it with the company to ensure that everything is fine and there’s nothing in the background that shouldn’t be. Now that the final version is finished we have uploaded it to Vimeo and I have gone about putting it into the infoWindow on our Google Map.

Creating Thinking Juice April 16, 2011

Filed under: Professional Project — catabbott @ 2:35 pm

This morning I made the labels for our ‘Thinking Juice’ bottles so that we are ready to film as soon as we get the opportunity. With George back home now it may take a little longer to get things filmed as we will only have the one camera, but hopefully we can still get all of the shots that we require as going back to reshoot may be a little awkward to arrange.

We are going to have four different kinds of juice and they are all based on different values of the company that I found on their website: ‘Creativity’ as they have just been named the ‘Best Creative’ company at the 2011 RAR Awards, ‘Endurance’ as they describe themselves as ‘hard working’ and ‘fast moving’, ‘Integrity’ as ‘Great relationships are built on trust, treating people fairly and doing the right thing. That’s what we care about, and that’s why our clients stay with us for so long’ and ‘Teamwork’ as they say that they work closely with their clients and within the company.

I have chosen a different colour for each quality and these colours will also be reflected in the juice that is inside them. I have used the company’s name at the top of the label (in their own style), with their logo cut off at the bottom to create brand awareness. I used coloured bars to frame the label at this is a technique that I have seen on other bottles of similar products, for example, the bottles that we are going to use to put our labels on to are the ‘This Water’ bottles, and the bar is a feature that they use on their bottles. I have also included the logo for the RAR awards that says “RAR+ Recommended”, and I have used this to represent where some drinks have your RDA of certain vitamins, whilst still advertising the award that they have won. I was going to put in other details such as barcodes on the back and nutritional information, but as they are round the back of the bottle they would not be in shot and the nutritional information is one of the things that we are planning on putting in during post production.

Other Web Pages April 16, 2011

Filed under: Professional Project — catabbott @ 2:24 pm

The other web pages are about 90% completed. I’ve made an ‘About’ page, a ‘Companies’ page, which lists all of the companies involved and a ‘Contact’ page. The only job left to do is to add a photo to the right hand side of the ‘About’ page so that it looks like it’s got a little bit more on it. I am also going to change the order of the items in the menu, to put ‘Contact’ at the end, as I think that makes a little more sense than how it is at the moment.

Home Page = Done April 14, 2011

Filed under: Professional Project — catabbott @ 11:38 am

This morning I have finished the Home Page for our website.

I have added our logo, created links for three pages that are yet to come (hopefully this afternoon), inserted the Twitter API so that we can have a live stream of the Tweets from all of our clients, finished the Google API so we are using our own colours, markers and infowindows (all that is left is the video links when they are uploaded), a footer and I also chose to add a gradient to the page so that it did not look as plain as it did originally.
