I’m not too sure what I want to do for my viral video so I decided that until inspiration strikes me I’m going to remake some just to get a feel for it. At the weekend my friend and I remade the video for ‘Daft Bodies’ (Daft Punk’s ‘Harder Better Faster Stronger’).
This is the original:
And this is ours:
It’s not fantastic but it was fun. We didn’t have boxes for our heads either because they were too big and a bit annoying. The sound is a little out of time and you can hear us talking and messing around a bit, I lost my patience with iMovie and just left it as it was!
Believe it or not a lot of pre-production went into this, I wrote out all of the words into a word document and then watched the original video to see where the words were on the two bodies and made a little diagram of how they should be on us. I did change the order of ‘harder’, ‘better’, ‘faster’ and ’stronger’ so that they read from left to right across the screen. I then assigned one person to be ‘blue’ and the other to be ‘pink’ I highlighted which words would be on the pink person and which words would be on the blue person. After this I decided that a sheet of paper might be too hard to read so made a PowerPoint Presentation to accompany the music and the words would come up on time on the screen so we knew what words were coming next.

The slides with two colours are where both of us had to make up the word together. After this we decided we were going to wear what is worn in the video so that it still looks pretty similar and the words can be seen, our other option was to get white t-shirts and write the words on there. When it came to filming it there was no where big enough in my house to do it so we were out in the garage with a portable mini heater! Also, when we filmed the PowerPoint wouldn’t work in time so we just used the song for a while and then got ingenius and wrote the words on the fridge and had the door open so we could read them easily from the side and drew bubbles around whose words were whose.

It was quite a fun thing to do just to mess around though and realise just how terrible my co-ordination actually is!
